7 years ago when I started my photography pursuit my kind friend Jill stepped in front of my camera. We would explore the forest, golden fields, and even stinky ponds to make art. It is from photographing her face over and over again that I learn how light can paint a person. It was a great honor when she asked me to photograph her wedding day at Blue Hound Farm in Lewisberry Pennsylvania. Jill has been a dear friend and I was excited to celebrate and document the start of her new adventure with Brian!
Here is their love story:
It was the first week of school in our sophomore year of Messiah College. Jill and Brian have always heard from mutual friends that they would get along very well but their paths never crossed. But in this first week, however, our paths crossed in the most genuine and soft-spoken way; Brian walked by Jill and Jill complimented his book bag because she had the same book bag growing up (a blueish-greenish uniquely colored book bag, and knowing Brian and Jill, this color fits them perfectly). Brian instantly thought that Jill was cute, attractive, beautiful, funny, etc, etc. Her magnetic personality came out even in a short interaction and Brian could not stop thinking about her. What Brian did not know was that Jill had seen him play in a coffee house at the beginning of their freshman year. She had felt drawn to him since she first saw him and always hoped they’d get to know each other.
Throughout the course of the fall semester, Jill would intentionally come onto Brian’s floor to hang out with their mutual friends. Brian would fall more and more in love with her over this time and they would then meet up every once and while to have 1-1 conversations, getting to know each other. One day, on a very cold December night, Jill and Brian told each other their feelings for one another. As any story goes, there are details that were left out and more details that happened after. But, through it all, the most important thing to Jill and Brian is that God has intricately woven two lives together over the course of 4 years.
Jill said, “Our wedding day was filled with the loud chants and cheers of our friends and family dancing to music in the old barn. The joy and love God showed us through the people who came to cheer us on was overwhelming!”
Here are some of my favorite images from their rustic barn wedding!
