I love when my wedding couples get just as excited about all kinds of different styles of photography on their wedding day and are looking for some conceptual or artistic shots in addition to more traditional photos. It’s really a joy to be able to flex those muscles and deliver something that might surprise my clients.
As you might’ve guessed, Whitney and David were one of those couples, and I was so ecstatic to capture them in fun and interesting ways.
Let’s rewind from their editorial and chic wedding day at Excelsior in Lancaster, however, and tell a little of their story.
Like many modern love stories, we have another magical meeting courtesy of Hinge, but neither bride nor groom was expecting to find the love of their lives on a dating app.
Yet, when they met for their first official date, which was a fun and memorable food and drink tour of Whitney’s neighborhood in Remington, they suspected they had something special. They’ve even recreated the same date since, knowing how much they loved it!
The couple watched their relationship grow over a shared love of travel, (especially creating perfectly curated road trip playlists for their adventures), the small intimacies of getting to know your partner, and a joint obsession with their two dogs! Though David is an extrovert to Whitney’s introvert, the bride told me they balance each other perfectly, even if David is the king of dad jokes. I love it.
Two and a half years after that first date, the couple decided to make it official and they were planning their wedding!
Whitney is an interior designer by trade so I wasn’t surprised by her love and desire for more artistic and abstract aesthetics. I also knew that her wedding at Excelsior was going to be beautiful because of it!
Excelsior is such a grand space because the somewhat industrial look makes it an amazing foundation to your decor. Whitney and David’s beautiful earthy tones of dusty rose, ochers and taupes, were an amazing addition to the warm walls and exposed steel beams.
The bridal party and bride also had the most exquisite organic floral arrangements that really looked popped with their sleek gowns. Everything was just undeniably classy. Sandra Porterfield Floral did an amazing job with all of the arrangements, especially that hanging installation in their reception space.
Excelsior hosted a beautiful day, and I was lucky to grab some amazing shots (I particularly loved how their portraits came out). I couldn’t have been more thrilled to spend the day celebrating Whitney and David with such an amazing and tight-knit group of people.
Whitney and David, thank you so much for inviting me along. I can’t wait to hear about your next adventure!
Thank you to all the vendors!
