East Coast Mt. Washington Mill Dye House Wedding

East Coast Mt. Washington Mill Dye House Wedding

  • Category: Weddings

Rachael and Reid’s wedding at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House in Baltimore was the culmination of a journey that began in the most ordinary of circumstances, yet grew into something extraordinarily special. Their wedding day was a celebration of laughter, love, and the beautiful simplicity of getting all your loved ones together in one space.

A Waterside Engagement Session

From the moment I met them, their connection endeared me – an absolutely charming bond that I had the pleasure of capturing during their engagement session in Downtown Annapolis. We started on the water, and made our way to a little grove of cherry blossoms, surrounded by the delicate beauty of blooms- a perfect springtime moment.

The Origins of Love

Their real journey started in a small recruiting agency in Annapolis, however, where they first met right out of college. Rachael would often go home and tell her mom about her funny coworker, Reid. What started as a friendship grew into something deeper, and soon they found themselves inseparable, laughing and building a life together in Annapolis alongside their beloved cat, Mimsy. The session was intimate and filled with fun, reflecting their easy-going nature and deep connection. As we soaked in the historic charm of Annapolis, they shared a little bit more about themselves and the big day the following Fall.

Envisioning a Wedding

The choice of the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House as their wedding venue was a perfect reflection of their style. The venue, with its unique blend of industrial charm and elegant architecture, captured both of their hearts when they walked through it.

Its rustic brick walls, high ceilings, and the gentle flow of natural light at the Dye House always creates an atmosphere that’s both chic and romantic, with lots of historic Baltimore character. I was lucky enough to capture 6 weddings there in 2023, and I’m always amazed at the ability of this venue to transform based on each bride and groom’s vision.

When it came to their decor, Rachael and Reid’s vision was clear – enhance the venue’s inherent beauty without overpowering it. They opted for string lights that cast a soft, romantic glow, flowers in various shades of pink intertwined with lush greenery, and gold accents on the tables. The addition of personal touches like cigar rolling at the venue and a photobooth brought an extra layer of personality to their celebration. The feeling was romantic and elegant, yet they wanted it to feel like a grand party, which I think they realized beautifully.

Wedding Day Excitement

The bridal party’s attire perfectly complemented the decor. The groomsmen looked dashing in black suits, while the bridesmaids dazzled in an array of pink dresses with mixed patterns, adding a vibrant and playful touch to the ceremony. Rachael and Reid got ready separately at a hotel in Harbor East, each moment leading up to their union filled with anticipation and excitement. When Rachael made her entrance in her off-the-shoulder princess sleeve dress, it had all the fairytale vibes.

On the heels of a beautiful and outdoor ceremony in the courtyard that was full of laughter and tears, the reception was another heartfelt gathering of their closest family and friends loaded with emotion. It was especially meaningful to see their immediate families, Rachael’s grandparents, the wedding party, and guests who had traveled from afar to share in their joy.

The atmosphere was one of warmth and celebration, with every moment, from the speeches to the dance floor, filled with laughter and love. The string lights twinkled like stars, the laughter and music echoed through the halls, and the air was filled with the unmistakable feeling of joy. It was not just a celebration of Rachael and Reid’s union, but a celebration of life and love with all of their people. I felt honored to be a part of their day, to capture the essence of their story, and to witness the beginning of their new chapter together.

Rachael and Reid, thank you for inviting me into your lives and allowing me to document such a significant day. Here’s to a future filled with as much joy, love, and laughter as your beautiful wedding day at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House.
