Capturing Meaningful Moments & Creating Art with Heart
Selecting a photographer whose personality and style you admire is one of the most important decisions you’ll make during the wedding planning process. The wedding day goes by fast and I see it as a great honor to capture both the big and quiet moments for you to share with future generations. Your mom tearing up during the toast, your grandfather on the dance floor, and all the tender hugs you’ll share with your community throughout the night. After the wedding day is over, the images, along with your lifelong commitment to one another, will be the only tangible things you will take with you. I strive to capture not just how your day looked, but how it felt. I also value creating unique natural portraits that reflect the true connection you and your partner share.
My photography experience starts by us getting to know each other. I would love to hear your story in my inbox!
My couples are:
-down to earth
-madly in love
-trust my artistic vision and appreciate creativity

-think marriage is awesome and a big deal
-aren’t into tradition just for tradition’s sake

FAQ
How would you describe your style? A mix of photojournalism and creative portraiture . I create unique natural portraits that reflect the true connection you and your partner share and capture real authentic heartfelt moments!
Where are you located? Do you travel? I am currently located in the Maryland and Washington DC area. I love traveling and I am passport ready to go anywhere! Contact me about travel fees if you are interested!
How long have you been photographing wedding/ is this your real job? I photographed my first wedding in 2011 and fell in love with capturing wedding stories! I am lucky to call this my full time job.
How do I book you? I require a $1500 retainer and a signed contract. Then your date is saved! After you book, I send over my exclusive Wedding Guide which will give you tips for planning your day!
Do we need a second photographer? Every photographer is different but I feel comfortable photographing solo and always bring an assistant with me. A second photographer is nice if you’re not doing a first look and/or have more than 150 guest. If your budget allows for a second photographer then it might be something to consider. I only hire second photographers who have a similar shooting style to my own! I process their images for a cohesive wedding gallery.
Should we do an engagement session with you in addition to our wedding photographs? Yes! An engagement session allows the two of you to practice being in front of the camera before your wedding day. It also gives us a chance work with each other (and have a ton of fun!) so that we can be more comfortable with each other on your wedding day. The engagement session includes a location within a 45 mile radius of 21043. I love traveling and can create a custom quote for your engagement session!
How many photos do you deliver? For full day coverage I deliver 500+ edited images. I don’t believe in limiting the amount of images delivered!
How do I receive our photos? For weddings, I deliver digital high resolution edited photographs on an online gallery. The gallery can be shared with family and friends.
How long does it take to receive our photos? On average, weddings take about 10 – 12 weeks for full completion but I always release a few sneak peeks! For portrait sessions there is a 4-6 week turn-around.
What equipment do you use? I shoot with three Canon 5d Mark IV, Canon 600 ex-rt flashes and a variety of prime lenses for different situations. (24mm, 35mm, 45mm TSE, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm) I also have a back-up camera body! Check out my gear bag HERE.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day? This is a tough question! I love it when couples do a first look. That is when the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony. This can be a special intimate moment and allows some time for portraits before the ceremony. I always tear up a bit during the first look!
Do you shoot more than one event on my wedding day? No! When a couple books me for their wedding date, they are my only clients that day. All of my energy is focused on capturing the meaningful moments of their day!
Do I have permission to print the photos? Can I use them online? For weddings and portraits sessions, the client receives a copyright release for personal use of the images. This allows you to print the images at any photo lab of your choice for friends and family and use the images online. I also ask that if you post your images on social media sites that you state clearly, “By Kate Ann Photography www.kateannphotography.com” below or beside the image.
Can you sign a contract with my parent? Since my couples are the ones I am communicating with (and getting to know!) throughout the wedding photography process I only sign contracts with them. I can definitely be in contact with your parents about payments and invoices.
Can I give you a shot list? I want to document your day as it naturally unfolds! I do not work off a shot list outside of a family formal/ friend list. Don’t worry I always take full bridal party, groomsmen, bridesmaid, and couples portraits! All of my couples are asked to fill out a questionnaire that helps me capture their wedding story well!
