I love getting the opportunity to capture my couples during the sweet season of engagement, and this Kennedy Center engagement session was such adorable adventure in the nation’s capital.
Everything is generally full of nerves and anticipation in the lead up to a wedding, so engagement photos are a great opportunity to get couples to slow down and be in the moment together, to be silly and really let their relationship shine.
Laura and Bob are getting married next year, but we came together this summer against the breathtaking backdrop of the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., ready to get to know each other.
The Kennedy Center, with its stunning architecture and mesmerizing views of the Potomac River, provided the perfect setting for Laura and Bob’s engagement shoot. Their love story, intertwined with their shared passions and dreams, was a joy to photograph.
The two met on a Master’s swim team after college in 2019. They were both swimmers in college, so they immediately bonded and clicked as friends. But over time, it started to become evident that there was something more there. About a year and a half later, the two decided to take the leap together and never looked back!
They shared their favorite dates with me, which included everything from adventurous explorations like scuba diving in Belize, to simple and perfect moments like grabbing ice cream in their sweats and dancing around their house.
Their love for fun and each other was clear to see, and it was these little stories and moments that made their shoot so incredibly special.
As the sun set over the river, its warm hues reflecting off the Center’s marble façade, Laura and Bob’s connection shined on camera. Every shared look and touch, every laugh and whisper, conveyed a love story that felt as timeless as the music that has graced the halls of the Kennedy Center.
Their partnership is very clearly built on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and an unyielding love for each other, and it sure does show.

As a photographer, I felt honored to capture these moments and to help create lasting memories for this extraordinary couple.
I can’t wait to join them next Spring when they get married at District Winery in DC. They’re looking forward to a future filled with travel, experiencing new cultures, meeting new people, and building their family.
