I couldn’t wait to blog these Line Hotel wedding photos because Yuri and Ryan’s day was just so dreamy!
Yuri and Ryan: thank you for choosing me as your Washington DC wedding photographer! I knew that I would be excited to capture these two’s wedding story after their adorable in-home engagement session. After capturing Yuri and Ryan’s first look, I think it’s safe to say that I could photographs on rooftops all day long. These two tied the knot at the LINE hotel in DC. We explored the rooftop for their first look and created some rad couples portraits!
Here is their love story from Yuri’s perspective:
“I met Ryan during my first visit to California. We were both just sixteen at the time. For a week, he and some friends took me to their favorite places around LA. I was so impressed! I thought one day I’ll call this place home. They got the sun, the babes, the waves….why would you want to live anywhere else? (Best Coast if you get it!).
On my last day there, Ryan revealed he has a crush on me. I thought how could this ever work? We live on opposite sides of the country! Essentially my response was “sorry buddy I don’t think this teenage west coast – east coast romance will work”. Fast forward 10 plus years later, we see each other at a family wedding and reconnect. Also I’d like to note he was hotter than I had last recalled!
Ryan came to visit me shortly after the wedding as a friend but we both knew secretly we wanted to be more. This time it was my turn to take him to some of my favorite places around DC. As I played his tour guide, it was also a time when I began to fall in love with him and he with me. It became a city where the realization struck, this time we really could make our teenage dream come true.
We fell in love and Ryan moved to DC. Three years later he proposed.
When our initial plans for a big fall wedding had to be scrapped due to my health, we had to move up the date with very little time to plan. So fortunate the vendors and Kate were flexible! We both agreed DC would be the best location for a small intimate wedding. The first and only place we visited was The Line Hotel in Adams Morgan. The decor and vibe suited our own personal style. We knew we had walked into the perfect place in the right city.
The wedding was beyond our expectations. Everything fell into place perfectly in just a short period of planning. The day was chaotic in the best ways; starting with my sisters gluing the programs together as they joked with each other, me singing Selena songs with my makeup artist, seeing my “macho man” Salvadoran dad get emotional, to the last-minute sunset photo shoot with my now husband.
I shed many tears of gratitude that day. We had friends and family fly in from California, one for just 24hrs! We had Ryan’s best friend, a father of 3, become ordained so he could marry us. A friend of mine, who had just given birth days prior, made it to our wedding! There were many more stories like this.
We felt so much love in action on this day. We enjoyed and savored every sweet, funny, and stressful moment. It’s the sweetest thing to relive these precious memories through Kate’s work 🙂 Thank you for capturing our loved ones, raw emotions, and happiness so vividly and beautifully.”
Yuri and Ryan’s love story is just so beautiful! I had such a great time creating their Line Hotel wedding photos!

I love capturing authentic, meaningful moments (all the belly laughs and happy tears) and creating natural, artful portraits that celebrate the true connection you and your partner share. I’m here to be your friend and guide throughout the wedding planning journey. I’m based in Maryland, but have travelled all over. I’ve photographed over 200 weddings and elopements and want to share everything I’ve learned with you! I’d love to read your story in my inbox!
I photographed my first portrait session in 2009, my first wedding in 2011, and have been photographing full time since 2014.
