One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer is watching love bring people together.
Sometimes it’s across cities, and sometimes it’s across cultures, but I get to watch people make that decision to blend their lives, values, and experiences and create a new kind of history together. I feel very privileged to be there when it all comes together.
This couple is a beautiful example of coming together that might never have happened without a little Superman, and a dash of courage from the bride.
Minal and Jared met on Bumble in the summer of 2020, smack dab in the middle of the pandemic. Jared happened to post a picture of himself dressed as Superman, and something about it struck Minal enough that she just had to reach out.
With both of them missing their families amid the isolation, the two spent time chatting and ultimately bonding over their passions, shared and individual. From wine dates listening to Carla Bruni albums, to special walks through the monuments around DC, and a combined love of world travel, Minal and Jared knew that they’d found their person even among the highs and lows of the pandemic.
In the throes of planning the big day, Minal and Jared envisioned a fun yet elegant, lighthearted, family-filled wedding day with lots of colors, as is traditional in Hindu weddings. It was also important to them that they represent both of their faiths and traditions, making sure to have both Ganesh and the Cross at their welcome table to signify their union.
Minal carefully planned and curated the whole day, spending many loving hours on the details, including invitations, programs, floral design, and tablescapes.
On the big day, amid the flowers and green fields of the Market at Grelen in Somerset, Virginia, Minal and Jared watched their families come together to celebrate their union in the most beautiful outdoor spaces.
Starting with a Hindu ceremony at the Boxwood cottage, the couple moved on to a traditional outdoor ceremony in the Berry Field, where they were treated to views of the rolling Virginian hills.
Afterward, their loved ones from across the globe gathered in the reception tent to continue the celebration, and boy was that a stunner. The clear tent showcased the gorgeous scenery and the day and night skies. It was even more intimate and lovely when it started to rain for a little bit.
The couple really let the outdoors take center stage by keeping the interior decorations simple and classic. It was such an elegant and special day, complete with a sparkler send-off in a vintage car.
Minal and Jared, I loved being a part of your special day and I can’t wait to see what adventures you get up to next!
