As a wedding photographer I have the privilege of visiting and documenting a wealth of stunning event spaces, but I was thrilled to be able to finally make it to Terrain at Styers in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania for the phenomenal wedding of Candice and David.
More on them in a moment, but let’s talk about this venue! 5 acres of seasonal blooms, greenery, and historic architecture, some of which dates back over 100 years! The amount of character is tremendous.
So many of the outbuildings and gathering spaces at Terrain are weathered but beautifully aged wood, carefully lit and staged to create the coziest spaces for your party. Add to that plenty of breathtaking landscapes for photographs, and you’ve got one stunning space.
I’m a big fan of how the array of textures and earthy elements sets up against the backdrop of traditional wedding fabrics like satin and lace. Extra bonus points that your flower arrangements look like they just sprung up there organically!
If you’re looking for a space with a lot of natural beauty, this might be the perfect place for you!
Now, onto the bride and groom!
Candice and David are both architects who had the good fortune to work in the same office in Baltimore, but it actually took a few years for them to cross paths, and they didn’t even do it at work!
It wasn’t until they met in person at a mutual friend’s baby shower that they finally had the chance to spend some time talking. Yet, as luck would have it, it was only for 10 minutes as both were on their way out of the party.
Still, in that moment, Candice got a gut feeling. Even with the brief interaction, she was pretty sure that there was something there that she wanted to pursue. Love a lady who knows what she wants!
Candice took the better part of a week thinking about how she wanted to approach David to ask if he’d like to go on a date. After some back and forth, she finally gathered her resolve and pressed send on an email, letting the chips fall where they may.
The two met for lunch, had the best time, and the rest is history! Candice credits it as one of the best decisions she’s ever made. Happy endings. Or beginnings!
They made it through that pandemic-work-at-home-life together with flying colors, and couldn’t wait to take it to the next level by saying their i-dos.
With the help of Betty Lou Events, the couple planned this gorgeous wedding and it was so much fun to capture.
There were so many cute intimate moments under the cafe lights, and so many happy memories made across antique dancefloors. The reception space at Terrain at Styer is just the right size to make everyone feel like family, but still big enough to have a party, as you can see in the photos!
Candice and David, thank you so much for taking me on this adventure with you! Can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds!
Thank you to the amazing vendors that made Candice and David’s summer Anthropologie Terrain at Styler’s wedding possible!
