Hi! Ever wonder how I make my clients feel comfortable and create natural, artful imagery? Today I’m sharing a behind the scene look into a real engagement session I photographed at some historic ruins! You’ll see my process for capturing portraits and there is even a cameo from my cat Magritte.
Alli (who has an awesome blog!) and Conner were incredible. They allowed my partner Tony to film me taking their Virginia engagement photos. (Tony is the real MVP behind this video) Alli and Conner’s story is below!!
“We started dating freshman year of college but we actually met 4 years before that when we were freshman in high school. Conner and I played at the same tennis club and quickly became friends. We ended up being each other’s dates to both of our senior year proms but even then, we were still just friends. When the end of the summer rolled around, Alli headed off to college in Virginia and Connor headed off to college in Pennsylvania.
Throughout our first semester, we guess we realized we missed each other because we started dating in February of that year and the rest is history! We did long distance throughout college and then both moved back to our hometowns afterwards so we were still doing the long distance thing then, too. Last June, after 4 years of dating, we made the big move to finally live together (woohoo to no more long distance!) and then we got engaged in December! The engagement has been a whirlwind so far, especially with half of it being during the coronavirus quarantine but planning our wedding has been incredible. Our big day is in October so we still have a little ways to go but we feel like we’re already married so we’re excited to make it official!” – Alli
Alli and Connor chose Historic Shady Grove as their wedding venue. They will be tying the knot there later this year! (Huzzah!)

I love capturing authentic, meaningful moments (all the belly laughs and happy tears) and creating natural, artful portraits that celebrate the true connection you and your partner share. I’m here to be your friend and guide throughout the wedding planning journey. I’m based in Maryland, but have travelled all over. I’ve photographed over 200 weddings and elopements and want to share everything I’ve learned with you! I’d love to read your story in my inbox!
My first portrait session in 2009, my first wedding in 2011, and have been photographing full time since 2014. I am in a position to help other photographers grow their business and master their craft. Ready to book your dream client and make images you’re truly proud of!? If you’re interested in a mentoring session send me a note!
